Quality Appliances from MFI

FAO of Trevor Dixon Order 221/840-0102
Trevor, I thought this was the easiest way of showing you the
problems.
The fitters are way behind having had such problems with the
kitchen which still aren't sorted out. I know you and Bill are doing your
best but frankly once your bit is done MFI are coming up short on service and
reliability. I am so so fed up of all the problems with kitchen and
bathroom and I really don't want it all again with the bedroom.
First we talked about the missing bedside cabinet not due
till March and the fact that the one I have is 550 wide. Your telephone
sales people told me it was 444 and customer services, despite 3 phone calls to
3 different people are STILL telling me I am wrong and it is only 444/450.
Now it is possible that I and both the fitters are completely stupid but it is
put together and it is clearly 550.
That said, it becomes a bit immaterial as the colour of this
and the free-standing 7 drawer chest is completely different to the rest of the
bedroom. Please see the first 2 pictures and compare to the next 2.
The rest of the bedroom has what I would say are something
more than just 'slight' colour variations but at least they can be described as
a colour variation whereas the bedside cabinet and 7 drawer chest are WAY
different in colour. There is no way I want to put these in my bedroom -
they simply don't match - not even close!
The supposedly freestanding 5 drawer chest, arrived without
the top and ends. I can't tell from the paperwork whether that should have
been two gable ends or whether only one is on back order. This is a
different design to the freestanding 7 drawer which is very strange but at least
it is the same colour as the rest of the bedroom, or at least I hope it will be
when the rest of the part finally arrive!
I have one damaged drawer front (double), see
picture 5, it appears to be ingrained in the wood, and one scratched end
panel to the wardrobes. Unfortunately the fitter has put this on
top of the wardrobe while he is away to avoid accidental damage so I can't get
at it to see how bad it is or to photograph it.
We have still to fully check handles, wardrobe doors and the
plinth and cornice. The fitter is trying to get back before new year but
can't promise.
I think you were probably right when you said not to deal
with customer services but I feel like I'm caught between the devil and the deep
blue sea at the moment. I did do as you suggested and insisted on the name
of the team leader, Claire Wright, but I'm not sure what good that does as their
promises of the stuff due in March matching properly and being the correct size,
now don't ring true for me!
